Nuchem lives with his beautiful wife, Yides, and daughter, Libbi, in the ultra-orthodox Jewish community of Antwerp, Belgium. Yides designs wedding dresses for women in the community and Nuchem is a dealer who mostly sells jewelry to rich ultra-orthodox women. Nuchem and Yides are having trouble finding a suitable match for their only child, their wonderful daughter Libbi. Libbi is a teacher at a women’s seminar, but her true passion is writing. Nuchem longs to be considered a gvir [*magnate] among the members of his community and to receive an entry permit to the new sauna in town, which is reserved only for magnates. To this end, he decides to sell a family heirloom, an old amulet, shaking up his relationship with his wife. Libbi approaches a famous ultra-orthodox female author for help publishing her own debut novel and unexpectedly meets a handsome, ultra-orthodox young man on the tram. Libbi falls in love with him at once.
