Aviram Katz, an illustrious detective fiction writer, receives an offer he can’t refuse: to publish a story in a well-known magazine.
The money’s great, as well as the prestige. Unfortunately, Aviram has been experiencing writer’s block for the past two years.
His deadline is fast approaching and Aviram hasn’t written a single sentence.
His neighbor, Dr. Victor Guetta. A retired proctologist asks Aviram to give him some feedback on a story he’s written, Having a Doctor at hand is always a good idea, so Aviram agrees. When he sits down to read the doctor’s story, he is astonished: it’s the most beautiful story anyone ever wrote.
Aviram decides to steal the story. He changes names and scenery and sends the story to the magazine.
The editor thinks the same: it’s the most beautiful story anyone’s ever written. But she does need few more chapters.
Aviram tries to get a hold of Guetta to ask him for more chapters but It turns out that Guetta was involved in a car accident and that he’s in the hospital, sedated. As he tries to figure out a solution, two police officers appear at his door. They are searching for a missing woman, Dr. Romano.
There’s a great concern that she’s been kidnapped and the entire police force is out searching for her. Aviram is shocked. Dr. Romano is the protagonist of the story he stole. He changed her name before sending it, he is certain. But evidently, he missed one spot.
Aviram doesn’t want to admit to plagiarism and ruin his good name, so he offers to help the investigators - after all, he’s an expert when it comes to detective mysteries. Linda, the police officer, decides to make an exception and take him up on his offer.
He now has 48 hours to find Dr. Romano, otherwise he’s about to become the main suspect of this kidnapping case, or even worse, this murder case.
